Paul & I have friends who have included their family & friends in doing something special for their little ones. We love all of the creative ideas we have seen, so we wanted to do something special for Nolin Leigh. So, we are creating a picture mosaic to hang on Nolin's wall.
Background – "Ubuntu" is an African word referring to the essence of a being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about human interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, & when you have this quality - Ubuntu - you are known for your generosity. We often think of ourselves as just individuals, separated from one another; however, Ubuntu means that you are connected and what you do affects the whole world.
This word represents a strong value in our lives & we want to instill this value in Nolin. We want her to understand that difference is to be cherished & she can make the world a better place by seeing herself as one piece of the world’s “mosaic.” So, we are creating a picture mosaic based on this idea & we want to include all of our family & friends since they are an important part of our lives.

This is just a representation of Ubuntu. We will make sure to post the picture mosaic for everyone to see as soon as it is completed!
What we’re asking from Family & Friends– send us a digital photo (or two) of you &/or your family. That’s it! We will collect the photos to build Nolin’s mosaic. Warning – if you do not send a photo of your choice, we reserve the right to choose your photo for you!
We hope that all of our family & friends will participate! In the future we want Nolin to be able to look at this mosaic to see all of the family & friends who have helped to shape us & who we hope will help shape her!
We would like to have all pictures by February 14th, Valentine’s Day. If you haven't already, send us your picture on Facebook or you can email to brandimarkham@gmail.com.
